Are you getting enough sleep?

After reading the article, by David Brooks, we learned about the sleeping habits of students at Princeton University. Unfortunately, we found that these students are so focused on school work and studying that they barely have enough time for anything. This crazy way of life is leading to many problems. One student, in the article, actually admits that he schedules time to meet with his friends for coffee because otherwise, he would never see them. This is extremely disturbing and this should be a wakeup call to people all over the world. Today, children are way too involved with extracurricular activities. Having a packed schedule is great for keeping your children out of trouble, but when do you stop signing them up? Studies show that children need time during the day to just relax. As time goes by, getting into college becomes harder and harder and many high school students pack their schedules to add things to their college transcripts. Colleges claim that they are looking for "well-rounded" students, but shouldn't they want students that are going to be social and add life to their college campus? If they only admit students with perfect SATs scores and fifteen solid extracurricular activities, they are losing students that are going to contribute to the overall college experience.
Sleeping Prezi

We wanted to focus on one main area in this complicated problem so we focused on sleeping habits. We decided to investigate the multiple problems with sleeping habits in our society today and we performed our own sleeping experiment. We believe that this common lack of sleep has been leading to poor performance in all areas. Kelly agreed to stay awake for 48 hours as part of our project. She woke up for school on a Friday morning, at 6:45am, and she stayed awake until Sunday morning around the same time. Throughout the experiment, Kelly recorded videos on her computer to show the progression of how lack of sleep affects one's ability to do anything.
